Caribbean Hold’em is a table game offered at most Australian online casinos. It is slightly more complex than Caribbean Stud and slightly less complex than Texas Hold’em. This makes is popular among a larger section of players. The game is live at online casinos like Fair Go and Ignition Casino. This article explains the basic features of the game.
You begin the game by placing the Ante wager. At Ignition Casino the minimum amount of the bet is AU$1, while the maximum amount is AU$500. When you click the Deal button the following cards are dealt. Two cards are dealt to the dealer face down. Two cards are dealt to the player face up. Three community cards are dealt face up. It is at this point that you have to decide whether to Raise or Fold. In order to make the right decision you must know how the game is played out.
Two more community cards will be dealt on the table. Using the two player cards and three of the community cards the highest ranking poker hand will be formed. The usual poker hand rankings apply. The same will be done for the dealer hands. If the dealer has the qualifying hand of a pair of fours or higher the two hands will be compared and the higher ranked hand will win. If the dealer does not have a qualifying hand then the player wins by default. However, to reach this final stage of the game you have to place the Raise bet, which is twice the Ante bet. If you Fold, then you lose the Ante wager immediately, irrespective of the dealer’s final hand.
If the dealer does not qualify then you will be paid even money on the Ante bet and the Raise bet will be returned as a push. If the dealer qualifies then the Ante bet is again paid even money and the Raise bet is paid according to a payout table. The lowest payout in the table is even money for a pair win and the highest is 100 to 1 for a royal flush.
Caribbean Hold’em offers a progressive jackpot as well. You have to place a fixed bet of AU$1 up front. If you land a royal flush you will collect the entire jackpot. A straight flush gives 10% of the jackpot. Four of a kind pays a fixed amount of $500, full house pays $100 and regular flush pays $75. The game shares a progressive jackpot with Caribbean Stud Poker and Caribbean Draw Poker, so the funds in the jackpot are constantly growing to wild proportions.
